Operational Meteorologist – Transportation & Logistics Fort Worth, Texas
Thinkfind is seeking an Operational Meteorologist to provide weather forecasting, monitoring, and decision support for a large, complex transportation network. This individual will monitor real-time and forecast weather conditions, identify and assess weather-related operational risks, and provide timely alerts, briefings, and recommendations to support safe and efficient transportation operations. Responsibilities include analyzing severe weather, precipitation, flooding, extreme temperatures, high winds, winter storms, and other atmospheric hazards; interpreting radar, satellite, observational, and numerical weather prediction data; and translating complex meteorological information into concise, actionable guidance for operations and leadership. The Meteorologist may also support weather-monitoring instrumentation, measurement quality, data validation, and related metrology activities to help ensure reliable environmental data used in operational decision-making.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field and professional experience in operational meteorology or weather forecasting. Experience supporting logistics, transportation, rail, aviation, or another large-scale operational environment is strongly preferred and will be particularly important for this role. Candidates should have experience interpreting radar, satellite imagery, weather observations, and numerical weather prediction models; working with meteorological software, weather data feeds, GIS, or monitoring systems; and communicating weather risks to non-technical operational stakeholders. Experience with Python, R, SQL, or other data-analysis tools is beneficial. Knowledge of meteorological instrumentation, measurement systems, calibration, data quality, or metrology principles is also desirable. Strong analytical judgment, communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make timely recommendations in a safety-sensitive environment are essential.
